Job summary

Biala Services Inc in Newcastle‑Maitland is seeking a Supported Independent Living Support Worker on a permanent part‑time roster. You will assist residents with personal care, daily living, and safety, including overnight shifts, ensuring dignity and respect.

Applicants must have a current National Police Clearance, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid/CPR, a valid driver’s licence with a reliable vehicle, and be able to work overnights/weekends. Training includes NDIS Orientation.

Qualifications

• Current National Police Clearance and NDIS Worker Screening Check are required.
• First Aid & CPR certificate is required.
• Experience supporting people with disability, ideally in SIL or overnight setting.
• Sound understanding of person-centred practice and positive behaviour support.
• Current driver’s licence with reliable vehicle.
• Ability to work overnight shifts (at least 2 per week, including weekends).
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module completion is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support for residents' personal care and wellbeing.
• Assist with feeding, toileting, bathing, grooming and mobility.
• Support participation in activities and life skills development.
• Transport clients as needed and perform household duties.
• Document notes and incident reports; maintain safety and rights at all times.
• Administer medication per procedures and training.
• Support nighttime and morning routines for residents.

Supported Independent Living Support Worker

This is an opportunity to join a stable permanent part-time roster supporting participants across Supported Indendent Living (SIL) and Respite (STA). You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of residents; supporting them in living the life they choose.

Key Responsibilities

Using a person-centred approach support residents' personal care and wellbeing as required, with dignity and respect. This may include Physical assistance with the following:

• Assistance with all areas of personal care including feeding, toileting, bathing and grooming
• Transfer/hoisting between toilet, wheelchair, motor vehicle, bed etc.
• Assistance to participate in activities
• Transporting clients
• Assisting participants with meal planning, preparation and cooking
• Domestic assistance
• Support residents' safety and rights at all times.
• Respond to clients needs including behavioural support and emergencies
• Complete notes documentation and incident reporting.
• Administer medication in line with procedures and training provided.
• Support clients with their nighttime and morning routines.
• Perform household and domestic duties within the SIL home as required and as per directed cleaning schedules.
• Support life skills development and community participation activities for residents.

What We Are Looking For
