Key Assets Australia is seeking Casual Children/Youth Support Workers to assist young people in foster care across Victoria. The role focuses on empathy, activity support, transport, and collaboration with care teams to promote positive outcomes.

Ideal candidates have experience with children, a Cert 4 in Human Services, and a current First Aid certificate. Weekday availability is required, with some weekends and afternoon/evening shifts possible.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support children/young people placed in foster care with activities and supervision.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating group and individual activities.
  • Transport and accompany youth as needed.
  • Document and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with care teams and maintain child protection practices.

A little about the role

Children/Youth Support Workers are responsible for supporting our young people placed in family based Out of Home Care (OOHC). This work is varied and may include planning and supporting activities, individual and or group work, transportation and may include supervising family contact. We look for people who have empathy and an enormous passion to making a positive and lasting difference to our children and young people’s lives.

We have casual positions available across Victoria in our Foster Care program, including the Inner Gippsland region and Metro western and southern suburbs.

Additional responsibilities of the role include:

Providing various types of support to Child and Youth placed in foster carer (Transport, Social/Community, Education and Mentoring)
Collaborative support, advocating for the child and participation in our Key Care team Framework
Assist in care / behaviour plans for our children and young people
Completion of required documentation, for operational compliance
Compliance of business policies and child protection procedure
About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll come with:

Prior experience working with and/or on behalf of children, young people
Energy and enthusiasm, as well as a passion for working with children and young people
A certificate in Human Services and or a similar relevant field (minimum Cert 4)
A current First Aid Certificate
Confidence and ability to deal with difficult situations
Training / experience in child abuse / trauma related behaviours, youth Mental Health and similar
Availability during weekdays, during the afternoon and early evenings (some weekend work may apply also).
Tenacity, diligence and resilience - with the ability to adopt a creative approach to problem solving in a fast-paced environment.
