Job summary

Key Assets Australia is seeking a casual Support Worker to serve the Brisbane region, providing quality care in a family setting and supporting children and young people with trauma-related needs. Responsibilities include supervision, transport, events coordination, and meticulous record-keeping.

Applicants should have Certificate III in Children’s Service or equivalent, 2 years’ direct experience with children and young people, and WWC clearance or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Children’s Service or equivalent training in youth or social care.
  • 2 years’ experience working directly with children/young people in care or related field.
  • Experience with children exhibiting trauma-related behaviours.
  • Working knowledge of legislation pertaining to children’s services.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a diverse team across levels, including language considerations.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking structured supervision and observation of contact with family members, including activities at and outside agency premises.
  • Support children and young people who may have suffered trauma and present complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Provide transport and/or escorts as necessary.
  • Assist in or coordinate events and children’s activities.
  • Keep comprehensive records of work and provide promptly per Key Assets policies.

A little about the role

As a casual Support Worker servicing the Brisbane region, help us make a positive and lasting difference to children and young people through the provision of quality care in a family setting. Some of the key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking structured supervision and observation of contact with family members, including participating in activities both within and outside the agency premises.
  • Supporting children and young people who may have suffered trauma and subsequently present complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Provide transport and/or escort to children and young people where necessary and appropriate.
  • Assist in or coordinate events and children’s activities as required.
  • Keep comprehensive records of work undertaken and provide these as required in a prompt timeframe, in line with Key Assets Policies and Procedures.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $48.31 - $51.81 per hour, inclusive of casual loading. This position is casual.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll come with:

  • Certificate III in Children’s Service, or any equivalent qualifications or training in youth or social care is advantageous.
  • 2 years’ experience working directly with children/young people, including teenagers, in the care system or other relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children with trauma-related challenging behaviours.
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services.
  • Ability to communicate simply and effectively, both verbal and written, with a diverse staff group at all levels, recognising potential language barriers and cultural differences.
  • Must possess a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to obtain one.
