Job summary

ermha365, part of the Meridia Group, is recruiting multiple casual Mental Health Support Workers in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne VIC. You will provide 1:1 or 2:1 support in residential, SIL, and community settings, promoting mental health and wellbeing using trauma-informed approaches.

Successful candidates will have a Certificate IV in Mental Health or tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Qualifications

• Experience with mental health and psychosocial disability, especially where challenging behaviours are present.
• High emotional intelligence, effective listening, and ability to hold sensitive conversations.
• Understanding of the justice system and BSP considerations.
• Tech savvy with IT systems on laptops/tablets.
• Ability to provide accurate and timely case notes for team continuity.
• Commitment to reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support to consumers in residential, SIL and community settings in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne VIC.
• Support mental health and emotional wellbeing using empathetic, strengths-based, trauma-informed approaches.
• Deliver support in line with individualised behavioural and mental health support plans.
• Create and maintain psychologically safe environments where consumers feel heard and supported.
• Identify early signs of distress or escalation and respond appropriately, including accessing additional supports.
• Provide accurate, timely case notes to support consistency and continuity of care.
• Maintain professional boundaries, uphold practice standards, and engage in safe, sustainable work practices.

About The Role

We are seeking multiple compassionate and values-driven mental health Support Workers who are passionate about promoting mental health, psychological safety, and overall wellbeing. These roles play a vital part in creating safe, inclusive, and mentally healthy environments, particularly for people living with complex mental health conditions, dual diagnosis, and behaviours of concern.

About You

The successful candidates will be able to thrive in a dynamic, 24/7 environment, who can think creatively, and respond calmly and professionally to complex situations. Strong rapport-building skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure are essential. These casual positions will require the successful candidates to have a Certificate IV in Mental Health, or tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline.

As a mental health Support Worker, you will:

• Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support to consumers in residential, SIL, and community settings based in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne VIC
• Support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of individuals using empathetic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approaches
• Deliver support in line with individualised behavioural and mental health support plans
• Create and maintain psychologically safe environments where consumers feel heard, respected, and supported
• Identify early signs of distress or escalation and respond appropriately, including accessing additional or external supports when required
• Provide accurate, timely, and reflective case notes to support consistency and continuity of care
• Maintain clear professional boundaries, uphold practice standards, and engage in safe, sustainable work practices.

What we are looking for

• Demonstrated experience and understanding of mental health and psychosocial disability, particularly where challenging behaviours may be present
• High emotional intelligence, effective listening skills, and confidence holding sensitive or difficult conversations
• An understanding of the justice system and also the importance of following the direction of a BSP
• Tech savvy with the ability to use a variety of IT systems whether that be on laptops and/or mobile/tablets
• Provide accurate and timely case notes so that the team can provide consistent experience for the participant
• Commitment to reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing learning in mental health and wellbeing

We are currently hiring multiple casual positions based in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne VIC. This is a 24/7 program therefore, the successful candidates will be available for a range of shifts including Sleepover shifts.

It is a requirement of this position to meet all compliance requirements concerning NDIS Worker Screening, Working With Children Check, Right to Work and possess a current & valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
