Job summary

Optiver in Sydney is seeking a Support Engineer for the APAC Risk, Treasury and Post-Trade IT team. You’ll own day-to-day production support for risk, treasury and post-trade platforms, investigate incidents end-to-end, and ship straightforward fixes or escalate for deeper work.

You should have 2+ years of production systems experience, strong Linux fundamentals, Python scripting, and SQL skills, plus an interest in AI to enhance operations while validating results.

Qualifications

• 2+ years operating and supporting production software systems.
• Able to debug using logs, data and configuration to root cause; fix in code when possible.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and ability to investigate on the machine.
• Fluent in Python with inclination to automate tasks
• Competent SQL and ability to spot wrong results
• Interested in AI and keen to leverage it but verify outcomes
• Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders under time pressure

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day production support for risk, treasury and post-trade platforms: investigate incidents from alert to root cause, implement fixes or escalate to devs.
• Work with stakeholders to assess real impact and keep them informed during resolution.
• Drive problems to resolution, even when the cause sits outside the team.
• Automate manual workflows to reduce support burden and improve monitoring and diagnostics.
• Extend AI-assisted operational tooling for triage and remediation.
• Manage production environment: capacity planning, host layouts, and deployment across 1,000+ instances.
