Job summary

Progress Rail is seeking a Supply Chain Analyst to manage demand, inventory optimisation and purchasing for approximately 26,000 items. The role supports Progress Rail Vision Zero, safety, and environmental initiatives while leading demand signals, stock strategies and systems governance.

You will drive material master accuracy, safety stock settings, and D365 document handling. Strong planning, purchasing experience and knowledge of quality processes are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years OEM/rail, aviation, logistics, mining, or supply chain experience.
  • 3 years planning or operational experience in manufacturing or supply chain.
  • Significant planning, buying or purchasing experience.
  • Knowledge of quality processes and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive demand signals, forecast accuracy and lead-time planning.
  • Optimise inventory levels and safety stock settings.
  • Oversee end-to-end purchasing and supplier expediting.
  • Manage centralised and local purchase orders and PO changes.
  • Run vendor back-order reports monthly.
  • Ensure accurate data in material masters and D365 uploads.

About the role

The position of Supply Chain Analyst is accountable for all matters of demand, inventory optimisation and planning (purchasing) as relates to the approx. 26,000 items of inventory held and managed. Role accountabilities include driving Progress Rail Vision Zero and environmental programs, including demonstrated leadership of all safety, health and environmental values; management of demand signals (external, service, maintenance, fleet growth / retirement and systems; inventory optimisation (stocking strategies (BAU and project related) and systems governance) and purchasing (end-to-end buying, expediting, item settings and data management).

This includes
  • – EXTERNALdemand related signals, specifically order quantity, accuracy of demand forecasts, demand placed within lead-time, NEW vv UTEX, unit of measure and obsolete / superseded items
  • - SERVICErelated signals, specifically and demand placed within lead-time
  • - MAINTENANCErelated signals and demand placed within lead-time
  • - FLEET GROWTH/RETIREMENTrelated signals, specifically approved NEW items for growth fleets and zeroing out settings for fleets earmarked for retirement
  • - SYSTEMrelated signals, specifically unit of measure settings and visibility of item coverage

Informing material masters, safety stock settings, specifically historical usage, minimum order quantities and lead-time

Accurate Document Handler uploads within D365 to support changes to Inventory and / or PO settings

Purchasing of all inventory based on all demand signals (sales orders, demand forecast, BOM’s, inventory journals and safety stock settings)

Ensuring orders are placed a minimum of 4 months in advance and running of vendor back-order reports

Monthly data cleansing (old/expired PO’s and regular review of safety stock settings)

Management of centralised (and local) purchase orders including firming, amending, cancelling and expediating

Transaction management of non-conformances and warranties

Desired but not essential

3 + years original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or rail, aviation, logistics, mining or supply chain industry experience

3 years operational or planning experience in a manufacturing, maintenance or supply chain environment

Significant planning, buying or purchasing experience

Demonstrable knowledge of quality processes and systems

Personal Qualities

Very strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

Detail orientated and process driven

Self-starter with a strong work ethic

Ability to be a collaborative team player and/or work autonomously

Effective organisational and time management skills
