Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Supervisor Light Mobile Equipment (LME) in Pannawonica to lead the LME maintenance team, driving safe, reliable and efficient outcomes. You will coordinate planned and breakdown work and support equipment availability while upholding regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

You will develop people, manage staffing needs and collaborate with multiple groups to achieve short-term site objectives and a strong safety culture in a residential Pilbara community.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of large-scale earthmoving equipment maintenance.
  • Experience coordinating planned and breakdown work.
  • WA Class C manual driver’s licence held.

Lead a Mechanical Maintenance team responsible for safely delivering maintenance activities that support site support vehicles, inclusive of but not limited to, light vehicles, medium and heavy rigid vehicles and ancillary equipment.

About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Light Mobile Equipment (LME) to help the LME maintenance team deliver safe, reliable and efficient maintenance outcomes. You’ll lead the execution of planned and breakdown maintenance activities while supporting equipment availability, statutory compliance and continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead, coach and develop maintenance team members, providing regular performance feedback and supporting capability development.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure work complies with Rio Tinto standards, policies, procedures and statutory obligations.
  • Coordinate scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities with the shift crew to complete required work safely and efficiently.
  • Allocate and manage planned maintenance activities using Rio Tinto work management principles.
  • Organise the execution of maintenance work to support equipment availability, productivity and short-term site objectives.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, planning, scheduling, contractors and original equipment manufacturers to deliver maintenance outcomes.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that strengthen safety, reliability, cost and environmental performance.
  • Define staffing and development needs for the Mobile Equipment Maintenance team and support required training and compliance.

Required for Success
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience leading, developing and coaching maintenance team members and contractors in a safety-critical operational environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of large-scale earthmoving equipment maintenance and experience coordinating planned and breakdown work.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance plans, schedules, budgets and work management processes.
  • A current Western Australian C Class manual driver’s licence.
  • A relevant electrical or mechanical trade qualification or engineering degree, together with the statutory and risk management qualifications required for appointment as a Statutory Supervisor.
Helpful for Success
  • Experience and capability diagnosing and repairing low voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience working with Toyota, Volvo, Scania and Isuzu commercial vehicles.
  • Eligible for appointment as a Statutory Supervisor under the Western Australian Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, including:
    • Minimum two years’ experience as a supervisor or worker in a similar mining or industrial operation.
    • Successful completion of approved WHS risk management units for Statutory Supervisors (BSBWHS411 and BSBWHS414 or equivalent).
    • Successful completion of the applicable WA Statutory Supervisor legislation examination.
    • Ability to obtain Site Senior Executive (SSE) appointment as a Statutory Supervisor for designated appointed places.
