Rio Tinto in the Pilbara region (Pannawonica) is seeking an Engineer Maintenance to support the Maintenance team in delivering safe, reliable and efficient asset performance. You will provide technical support, lead continuous improvement and collaborate with planning, engineering and operations to optimise asset health and life cycle.

The role offers a permanent position with a focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement across fixed plant equipment and site-based projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for planning, prioritisation and execution of maintenance activities.
• Conduct root cause investigations and equipment failure analyses to implement corrective actions.
• Review equipment performance and propose improvements for reliability and life cycle.
• Lead continuous improvement and asset health initiatives across maintenance operations.
• Support work management processes, standards and QA requirements.
• Develop repair scopes, assess risk, and advise on asset recovery and improvement projects.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, OEMs and operations to deliver outcomes.
• Contribute to site-based capital and improvement projects enhancing safety and reliability.

About the role

We are looking for an Engineer Maintenance to help the Maintenance team deliver safe, reliable and efficient asset performance. You will provide technical support, expert advice and continuous improvement leadership across maintenance activities. What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering and working within the Maintenance team, you will:

• Provide technical support to maintenance teams across planning, prioritisation and execution of maintenance activities.
• Conduct root cause investigations and equipment failure analysis to identify and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Review equipment performance and develop recommendations that improve reliability, maintainability and asset life.
• Lead and support continuous improvement, defect elimination and asset health initiatives across maintenance operations.
• Support work management processes, maintenance standards and quality assurance requirements.
• Develop repair scopes, evaluate risk and provide technical recommendations for asset recovery and improvement projects.
• Partner with planners, schedulers, engineers, OEMs and operational stakeholders to deliver maintenance outcomes.
• Manage or support site-based capital and improvement projects that enhance safety, reliability and operational performance.

About you

Required for Success

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Demonstrated experience in engineering, maintenance or reliability roles within mining, processing, manufacturing or another heavy industrial environment.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis, defect elimination and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of asset management, work management processes and equipment reliability principles.
• Experience using maintenance management systems such as SAP or similar CMMS platforms.
• A Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant discipline, or equivalent technical experience.

Helpful for Success

• Experience supporting fixed plant or mobile equipment maintenance environments.
• Exposure to Lean Six Sigma, Black Belt methodologies or structured continuous improvement frameworks.
• Experience with maintenance budgeting, asset criticality assessments and lifecycle planning.
