Job summary

NSW Rural Fire Service in Sydney is seeking a Fleet Design Supervisor to lead the design and development of specialised fleet solutions that support frontline operations across the state. Our Ideal Candidate:

NSW RFS is seeking an experienced and innovative engineering professional with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and an appreciation for volunteer-based community service organisations.

The ideal candidate will bring advanced knowledge of engineering, technical management, research, and problem-solving, with demonstrated experience delivering complex research and development projects. You will be comfortable working in challenging environments, applying sound judgement to develop practical and effective solutions.

You will have a strong foundation in engineering design principles, including the ability to interpret and apply technical drawings, models, specifications, industry standards, and Australian Design Rules to support safe, compliant, and operationally effective fleet solutions.

You will have experience leading and supporting a small team to deliver design-related projects and achieve high-quality outcomes, while fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The role requires a high degree of autonomy, with responsibility for making informed decisions within established policies, procedures, legislative requirements, and delegated authorities, while recognising when matters require escalation or specialist advice.

A strong commitment to workplace health and safety is essential. The successful candidate will actively comply with the Work Health and Safety Act and associated legislation, ensuring safety considerations are embedded in all aspects of their work.
