Job summary

Tomago Aluminium is seeking an experienced Plant Services Superintendent - Potline Services to lead a critical portfolio underpinning the smelter’s performance. You will guide a team of Supervisors and crews in pot relining, shell exchange, ladle cleaning and related services, while ensuring safety, reliability and cost-effective outcomes.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and people-focused leader to join our Plant Services team as Plant Services Superintendent - Potline Services. This is an opportunity to lead a critical operational portfolio that underpins the performance and reliability of our smelter, while developing leaders, driving continuous improvement and reinforcing our strong safety culture.

Reporting to the Plant Services Manager, you will lead a team of experienced Supervisors and operational crews responsible for pot relining and shell exchange activities, ladle cleaning operations, emissions management and underpot services. Working closely with Operations, Process and Maintenance leaders, you will play a key role in shaping safety, operational performance and team capability while delivering safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes across the business.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading and championing a strong safety, health and environmental culture while driving continuous improvement in EHS performance
• Developing, coaching and mentoring a team of Shift Supervisors to achieve operational excellence
• Providing leadership and strategic direction for pot relining, shell exchange, ladle cleaning and associated services activities
• Own and manage key Plant Services contracts, including commercial performance, contractor relationships, contract negotiations and delivery against agreed outcomes
• Optimising resources, systems and processes to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective operational outcomes
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, reliability and productivity
• Working collaboratively with operational, maintenance and technical teams to optimise performance
• Managing budgets, operational costs and performance against business objectives
• Supporting employee relations activities and maintaining positive workplace culture
• Ensuring compliance with site procedures, standards and regulatory requirements.

About You

You are an experienced operational leader who thrives in a complex industrial environment and enjoys developing people, improving performance and delivering results safely. You bring strong technical and operational credibility, influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups and have a passion for building capability and driving continuous improvement.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Demonstrated ability to lead operational performance, build team capability and drive continuous improvement through others
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation
• Experience within a production, manufacturing, processing or heavy industrial environment, including the ability to investigate and resolve operational challenges
• Commercial acumen, including experience managing contractor performance, budgets and contract negotiations
• A demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes, operational excellence and continuous improvement
• Exceptional planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver results
• Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and SAP or similar business systems
• Experience coaching and developing frontline leaders within a blue-collar operational environment
• Relevant engineering, trade, leadership or business qualifications
• Formal leadership training, postgraduate business qualifications and experience leading change initiatives will be highly regarded
• A track record of identifying and implementing improvements that enhance safety, productivity, quality or cost performance
