Job summary

Bravus Mining and Resources is seeking a Superintendent – Mining to lead production teams at Carmichael Mine. You will drive safe, efficient operations on an 8 days on/6 days off, dayshift roster, ensuring production targets, quality and cost objectives are achieved.

The role requires open cut mining leadership, strong coaching ability, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with maintenance, CHPP and planning teams. Queensland certifications and a valid class C licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Open cut mining superintendent experience or equivalent senior supervision.
• Experience leading mining production teams and coaching frontline leaders.
• Experience with heavy earthmoving equipment, mine planning and production analysis.
• Current Mining Supervisor qualifications: G1/G8/G9 (S1/S2/S3) plus G2/RIIRIS402D.
• Current Standard 11, Queensland Coal Board Medical and Queensland Class C Driver Licence.
• Strong risk management, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and stakeholder engagement across operations, maintenance, CHPP and planning.

Job description

Bravus Mining and Resources’ Carmichael mine is an open cut thermal coal mine in the North Galilee Basin, approximately 160 kilometres northwest of the town of Clermont.

Carmichael produces more than 12 million tonnes of thermal coal for the export market each year.

More than 1400 people are engaged in permanent roles at Carmichael and workers travel to site on direct flights from Townsville, Rockhampton, Cairns, or Mackay (a flight time of approximately 55 minutes). Those team members who live in the Isaac region have the option to drive-in and drive-out with individual travel and fatigue management plans in place.

About The Role

Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Superintendent - Mining will lead production teams and resources to deliver safe, efficient and continuous mining operations at Carmichael Mine.

This role is responsible for achieving production, quality and cost targets through visible safety leadership, effective resource planning and close collaboration with Maintenance, CHPP, Planning and Technical Services.

This role operates on an 8 days on, 6 days off dayshift-only roster (8/6).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mining production teams and resources to safely deliver continuity of operations.
• Plan, monitor and control daily production activities to achieve tonnage, quality and cost targets.
• Provide visible safety leadership and foster a workplace culture that strives for zero harm.
• Deploy people, equipment and materials to optimise fleet utilisation, productivity and unit cost performance.
• Partner with Maintenance, CHPP and Technical Services to support safe, reliable and efficient production outcomes.
• Lead, coach and mentor production crews, Supervisors and Leading Hands to build capability and performance.
• Use data to identify improvement opportunities, manage production within budget and meet statutory, SHMS and company requirements.

About You

• Previous experience in a Superintendent role within an open cut mining environment, or extensive experience as a Supervisor within an open cut mining environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing mining production or operations teams, including coaching, mentoring and developing frontline leaders.
• Experience with mining operations, heavy earthmoving equipment, resource planning and mine plan analysis.
• Current Mining Supervisor qualifications - G1, G8 and G9 (formerly S1, S2 and S3), plus G2 / RIIRIS402D.
• Current Standard 11, Queensland Coal Board Medical and Queensland Class C Driver Licence.
• Strong capability in risk management, regulatory compliance, performance management and continuous improvement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across operations, maintenance, CHPP, planning, technical services and contractor groups.
