Bravus Mining and Resources is seeking a senior leader to head drill and blast at Carmichael Mine. The role drives safe, on-schedule drill and blast delivery aligned with the mine plan, while leading a high-performing team and engaging contractors for safety, cost control and continuous improvement.
You will ensure blasting quality, operational reliability and adherence to site standards, while building capability through coaching and development.
Reporting to the Surface Mine Manager, you will lead the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of drill and blast activities at Carmichael Coal Mine. This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving operational performance, contractor management, blast quality, cost control and continuous improvement across the drill and blast function.
Working closely with Mining Operations, Technical Services and contractor drill and blast services teams, you will ensure drilling and blasting activities are executed safely, on schedule and in alignment with the mine plan, while building a high-performing team culture focused on accountability, collaboration and excellence. The role is also responsible for managing enabling activities such as drill area preparation, road works, delineation, ancillary equipment and clearing activities.
This position is based at the Carmichael Mine, Central Queensland's Galilee Basin, providing a balanced lifestyle with eight days on and six days off (8 / 6 roster). The ideal candidate would FIFO out of Townsville, Rockhampton or Mackay (a flight time of 55 minutes). Candidates who live in the Isaac region also have the option to drive-in and drive-out.
You are an experienced mining leader with a strong background in drill and blast operations and a proven ability to deliver results in a large-scale surface mining environment. You thrive in fast-paced operational settings, bring a strong commercial mindset and are passionate about developing people and improving performance.
Bravus Mining and Resources' Carmichael mine is an open cut thermal coal mine in the North Galilee Basin, approximately 160 kilometres northwest of the town of Clermont.
Carmichael produces more than 12 million tonnes of thermal coal for the export market each year, employing a workforce over 1400 people.
