Job summary

Liontown Ltd is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Superintendent to lead the Geotechnical Engineering function at Kathleen Valley. This permanent role, reporting to the Underground Manager, owns governance of geotechnical standards, ground support systems and paste backfill engineering that support safe extraction of the orebody.

This is a Tier-1 underground mine at a defining life stage with an 8:6, 4:3, 12-hour day roster.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Underground hard-rock mining experience with senior technical roles.
• Strong geotechnical and backfill engineering experience.
• Proven governance and management plan experience.
• Proficiency in mine design and geotechnical modelling software (Deswik).

Responsibilities

• Lead the Geotechnical Engineering team.
• Own the Ground Support Management Plan and Backfill Management Plan, reviewed annually.
• Provide technical leadership for ground support strategies, excavation stability and seismic risk management.
• Provide technical oversight of paste backfill engineering, including design philosophy and QA/QC standards.
• Mentor the Backfill Engineering function through a dotted-line reporting relationship.

About The Role

It is a rare opportunity to shape the geotechnical strategy of a Tier-1 underground mine at a defining stage of its life. This is a permanent, full-time position on an 8:6, 4:3, 12-hour day roster.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the Geotechnical Engineering team.
• Own the Ground Support Management Plan and Backfill Management Plan, ensuring both are maintained and reviewed annually.
• Provide technical leadership for ground support strategies, excavation stability and seismic risk management.
• Provide technical oversight of paste backfill engineering, including design philosophy and QA/QC standards.
• Mentor the Backfill Engineering function through a dotted-line reporting relationship.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in underground hard-rock mining, including senior technical roles.
• Significant experience in geotechnical and backfill engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with engineering governance and management plans.
• High proficiency with mine design and geotechnical modelling software, including Deswik.
