Job summary

Mount Isa Mines is seeking a Superintendent – Fixed Plant Maintenance and Operations in Mount Isa, Queensland. This residential role leads the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine, driving safe, reliable and efficient maintenance outcomes while building strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role.
• Engineering or maintenance management qualification.
• Underground mining experience including crushing and hoisting systems.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of fixed plant maintenance, reliability and asset management.
• Solid risk management and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team and drive safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Oversee maintenance and reliability of fixed plant equipment to support safe and consistent performance.
• Ensure maintenance activities align with asset management plans, including shutdowns and statutory requirements.

The role

Are you an experienced maintenance leader looking to advance your career in the mining industry?

Mount Isa Mines is seeking a skilled and motivated Superintendent – Fixed Plant Maintenance and Operations to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to broaden your technical knowledge and further develop your leadership capability. Reporting to the Manager – Maintenance, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, oversee Supervisors and mechanical projects, and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will model our agreed behaviours, promote a strong safety culture and support the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient fixed plant maintenance outcomes. This is a residential position based in Mount Isa, working a lifestyle 5/2, 4/3 roster—a nine-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities

• Manage budgets, resources and maintenance priorities effectively.
• Identify and manage maintenance-related risks in accordance with company standards and procedures.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Model and promote the behaviours expected across the team and broader business.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Five to seven years’ experience in a comparable maintenance leadership role.
• Relevant qualifications in engineering, maintenance management or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in underground mining inclusive of crushing and hoisting systems.
• Experience leading and engaging multidisciplinary teams.
• A strong understanding of fixed plant maintenance, reliability and asset management principles.
• A thorough understanding of risk management in a maintenance environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly developed leadership, influencing and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, outcomes-focused approach with a high level of integrity.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
