Job summary

Mount Isa Mines in Mount Isa, Queensland, invites applications for a Scheduling Engineer within the George Fisher Mine, Technical Services team. This residential role offers a 9-hour roster and a focus on developing and maintaining short-term mine schedules that reflect the mine plan and live operations.

Reporting to the Senior Scheduling Engineer, you will translate plans into practical schedules, collaborate with Operations, and drive risk mitigation to ensure safe, reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Mining-related degree and relevant professional qualifications.
• Experience in underground hard-rock mining, ideally in planning or scheduling roles.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, development and production processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Deswik scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate short-term mine schedules aligned with the approved mine plan.
• Translate medium- and long-term plans into clear, actionable schedules.
• Collaborate with Operations and Technical Services to ensure schedules are practical and executable.
• Identify scheduling constraints, risks, and dependencies, and drive mitigation strategies.
• Support delivery of production and development targets through timely and reliable scheduling outputs.
• Work closely with Operations teams to scope upcoming work and monitor schedule performance.
• Analyse operational performance and provide feedback to improve schedule reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain scheduling systems, data, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Ensure all scheduling activities consider safety, operational risks, and site requirements.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Scheduling Engineer, the Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining short-term schedules that support the successful execution of the mine plan. You'll ensure plans are practical, achievable, and aligned with real operational conditions, while proactively identifying risks and constraints. This is a role where your work directly influences daily performance on site-turning plans into action and enabling reliable execution of the mine plan.

Key responsibilities:

• Ability to analyse data and develop practical, achievable schedules
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
