Job summary

Australian International Islamic College – Carrara QLD is seeking a Wellbeing Officer to provide practical, non-clinical support to students under the Head of Pastoral Care. You will help identify concerns, implement support strategies and follow up with students, families and staff to enhance spiritual, social and emotional development in alignment with the College ethos.

The role may include teaching allocation or case management, requiring QCT/AHPRA registration.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in youth work, community services, education support, social work, counselling or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience supporting children or young people, preferably in a school, youth service or community setting.
• Sound understanding of child safety, professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Hold and maintain a current Queensland Blue Card unless exempt.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible and approachable presence and provide scheduled check-ins, mentoring and practical wellbeing support.
• Recognise emerging concerns relating to friendships, bullying, emotional regulation, belonging or engagement, and refer promptly.
• Listen respectfully to students, help them identify trusted adults and encourage help-seeking and resilience.
• Contribute observations to student support plans with the Head of Pastoral Care and campus leaders.
• Implement agreed strategies, record progress and participate in case meetings and handovers.
• Assist with referrals to the Wellbeing Counsellor and follow up actions and unmet needs.
• Monitor attendance and engagement for allocated students and coordinate with attendance staff.
• Assist with wellbeing activities, small groups, transitions, peer support and student leadership.
• Liaise with parents using College communication procedures.
