Job summary

All Saints Anglican School Merrimac in Shepparton VIC invites a dedicated School Counsellor to support mental health, emotional wellbeing and personal development of students within an educational setting.

You will provide individual and small-group counselling, work with teachers and families, maintain confidential records and contribute to wellbeing programs, while upholding Child Safe Standards and Anglican identity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience providing counselling and wellbeing support to children and families.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics and ongoing professional learning.
• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• National Criminal History Check (NCHC), or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience working within an educational setting.
• Understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
• Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional association (such as the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc., the Australian Counselling Association, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, or the Australian Association of Social Workers).
• A warm, flexible and proactive approach to student wellbeing.
• Commitment to maintaining Anglican Identity and to working within a supportive, values-based school community.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counselling to students.
• Collaborate with teachers, school leaders and wellbeing staff to support student needs.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain confidential case notes and records in accordance with ethical and legal requirements.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of wellbeing policies, programs and initiatives.
• Support key wellbeing and awareness events across the school.
• Champion the school's commitment to Child Safe Standards and a culture of care.
