Mentone Girls' Secondary College is seeking a Part-time Wellbeing Counsellor (0.8 FTE) to support secondary students with mental health needs and coordinate with staff and external services. Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in psychology or social work or counselling.
• Ability to work with teachers, education support staff, students, parents and external organisations.
• Experience in counselling secondary students with complex mental health issues and case management.
• Ability to participate as a team member to implement wellbeing policies and school programs.
• Strong communication and confidential record-keeping

Responsibilities

• Provide input in wellbeing program development and policy implementation with primary prevention focus.
• Coordinate with staff, families, DET personnel and external agencies to manage complex cases.
• Provide counselling support and risk assessments for at-risk students.
• Advocate for students and families with appropriate services and referrals.
• Develop targeted wellbeing programs and prepare funding submissions.
• Deliver training on wellbeing programs to staff and college community.
• Maintain networks with youth and community agencies to assist access to services.
• Collaborate with Student Support Services team.
• Maintain accurate case notes and records.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by Principal and Business Manager.
