Job summary

Newman Catholic College, Smithfield, is seeking a part-time School Counsellor (0.6 FTE) on a fixed-term basis until 8 October 2027 to support student mental health and resilience. The role requires degree-level qualifications in Education Psychology or Social Work, QCT or AHPRA/AASW registration (or equivalent), and a Working with Children Blue Card.

The Counsellor collaborates with staff to provide targeted interventions and inclusive educational access.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Education Psychology or Social Work.
• Registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) and/or Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Working with Children Blue Card is required.
• Be supportive of Catholic Education ethos.

Responsibilities

• Foster development, mental health and resilience of all students, including at-risk or with special needs.
• Provide guidance and counselling through direct and indirect processes and interventions; collaborate with school staff.
