Job summary

Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE (NVITAFE) is seeking a dedicated Student Wellbeing Advisor to support students’ wellbeing and educational outcomes across our campuses. You will provide counselling and connect learners with the right supports to enhance confidence and success.

This role prioritises inclusive practice, confidentiality, and responsiveness to diverse needs, including those with complex circumstances.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Counselling (minimum Diploma in Counselling).
  • Eligibility for membership in APS, AASW, VAFT, ACA or equivalent associations for registration.
  • Experience counselling diverse clientele, including special needs.
  • Sound organisational and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive and compassionate counselling and wellbeing support to students.
  • Establish trust and create an inclusive, supportive environment.
  • Engage with students with empathy, understanding and sensitivity.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified andexperienced Student Wellbeing Advisorto join our Student Successand Retentionteam. As aStudent Wellbeing Advisor,you will provideresponsive and compassionate counselling and support services, drawing on your strong interpersonal skills to engage with students with empathy,understandingand sensitivity. Central to thesuccess of thisrole is your ability toestablishtrust and create a supportive, inclusive environment, while adapting your approach to meet the diverse needs and circumstances of students, including those with complex or special needs.

This role offers you the opportunity to apply your counsellingexpertisein a meaningful setting, helping students navigate challenges, strengthentheirwellbeingand achieve positive educational outcomes.

About you

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Counselling (Minimum Diploma in Counselling).
  • Eligibility for membership in one of the following: –APS (Australian Psychological Society); or –AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers);or –VAFT (Victorian Association of Family Therapists); or –ACA (Australian Counselling Association) or other associations aimed at the registration and regulation of counsellors and psychotherapists.
  • Experience in counselling a diverse and varied clientele, in particular special needs clients.
  • Sound organisational and administrative skills.
