Job summary

The University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology seeks a full-time, fixed-term Coordinator for Student Operations to support hands-on learning across workshops and makerspaces. You will coordinate day-to-day activities, rostering for Student Operations Officers and act as the operational link across the operations team.

Working within FEIT’s Infrastructure Team, you will maintain shift documentation, SOPs and reports, assist with inductions and events, and help

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service delivering reliable, high-quality support to diverse users.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination and information sharing.
  • Growth mindset, contributing practical ideas to improve processes, documentation and student service experiences.
  • Ability to follow procedures in operational settings, escalating issues and risks appropriately when needed.
  • Familiarity with laboratory, workshop or makerspace environments, including basic health and safety practices.
  • Experience supporting students or student-focused services, ideally within education or research-intensive organisations.

Role type: Full-time; Fixed term for 2 years. Faculty: Engineering & Information Technology. Salary: UoM 5 - $86,943 - $99,864 p.a. plus 17% super. Central coordinating role across multiple student spaces / enhance hands‑on student experience in workshops and makerspaces / join FEIT’s Infrastructure Team.

Your new team

You will join the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology’s Infrastructure Team, supporting cutting‑edge teaching and research spaces. The Workshop, Makerspaces and Engagement Team enables safe, hands‑on learning through well‑managed workshops, makerspaces and informal student areas. You will collaborate with technical, operational and student‑facing colleagues, contributing to consistently excellent user experiences across FEIT.
