Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Social Work or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card) before employment.
• Driver’s Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Provide psycho/social/educational crisis counselling to students experiencing distress affecting performance across the region, including diagnostic and risk assessment and referrals to support services.
• Provide course and pre-course counselling and financial assistance information for vocational programs, including negotiating flexible fee payment plans.
• Liaise with teachers, managers and officers to provide vocational and career advisory services to students.
• Advocate for student needs to regional and departmental staff regarding rules and appeals processes.
• Support teaching and admin staff in managing student learning and organise skill development programs for groups with difficulties.
• Assist students with special needs, maintain local community services information, and update self-help resources repository.
• Participate in external activities promoting VET and regional engagement; provide information on courses and funding requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date qualitative and quantitative records demonstrating value to the region’s business.
• Understand commercial aspects of TAFE including financial performance and external factors impact.
• Engage with industry, business and the community; promote values of initiative, teamwork, customer focus and accountability.
