Job summary

Torrens University Australia is seeking a dedicated Student Communications Officer to develop and coordinate timely, accurate, and engaging communications across the student journey. You’ll translate complex information into accessible content for students on email, SMS, the Student Hub, and other platforms.

Collaboration with academic, operational, marketing and support teams will shape content calendars and governance.

About the Opportunity

Are you a clear and creative communicator who enjoys making complex information easy to understand and helping students stay informed and engaged?

As a Student Communications Officer, you’lldevelop and coordinatetimely,accurateand engaging communications across the student journey. Working across email, SMS, the Student Hub, studentpublicationsand other digital platforms, you’llturn academic, administrative, policy and operational information into accessible, student-friendly content.

You’llwork closely with academic, operational,marketingand student support teams to coordinate communications,maintaincontent schedules, supportgovernanceand improve engagement through student feedback and communication data.

This is a permanent, full-time position that can be basedatany of our four campuses.

What You’ll Do

You’llcreate and coordinate communications that inform,supportand engage students across TorrensUniversity Australia.You’llbring structure to communication planning and help ensure messages areaccurate,accessible,welltimedand aligned withorganisationalpriorities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develop,editand deliver clear,accurateand engaging student communications across email, SMS, the Student Hub, digitalpublicationsand other platforms.
  • Coordinate communications covering enrolment, orientation, progression, census, assessment, wellbeing, student support,eventsand important service updates.
  • Translate complex information into clear and inclusive content tailored to different student cohorts and stages of the student journey.
  • Maintain the student communications calendar, manage contentschedulesand help resolve message overlaps and high-volume communication periods.
  • Develop communication plans for significant student activities, initiatives and events, and support regular publications and campaigns.
  • Apply content governance, approval and quality assurance processes, and use engagement data and feedback toidentifyimprovements.
Skills & Experience
Must Have
  • A post-secondary qualification in communications, media, journalism, marketing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience,educationand training.
  • Demonstrated experience developing,editingand proofreading effective written communications for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to translate complex information into concise, engaging and student-friendly content.
  • Strong stakeholder,organisationaland project coordination skills, with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility, plainEnglishand inclusive communication principles.
Nice to Have
  • Experience working in higher education, vocationaleducationor another regulated service environment.
  • Experience managing content in a Student Hub, student portal,intranetor content management system, including Sitecore or a similar platform.
  • Experience using customer relationship management, emailmarketingor student communication platforms, and developing communications for international and culturally diverse audiences.
