Qualifications

  • Post-secondary qualification in communications, media, journalism, marketing, or related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing, editing and proofreading effective written communications for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to translate complex information into concise, student-friendly content.
  • Strong stakeholder, organisational and project coordination skills with good judgement and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility, plain English and inclusive communication principles.

  • Coordinate communications for enrolment, orientation, progression, census, assessment, wellbeing, events and updates.

About the Opportunity

Are you a clear and creative communicator who enjoys making complex information easy to understand and helping students stay informed and engaged? As a Student Communications Officer, you'll develop and coordinate timely, accurate and engaging communications across the student journey. Working across email, SMS, the Student Hub, student publications and other digital platforms, you'll turn academic, administrative, policy and operational information into accessible, student-friendly content. You'll work closely with academic, operational, marketing and student support teams to coordinate communications, maintain content schedules, support governance and improve engagement through student feedback and communication data. This is a permanent, full-time position that can be based at any of our four campuses. What You'll Do

You'll create and coordinate communications that inform, support and engage students across Torrens University Australia. You'll bring structure to communication planning and help ensure messages are accurate, accessible, well timed and aligned with organisational priorities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develop, edit and deliver clear, accurate and engaging student communications across email, SMS, the Student Hub, digital publications and other platforms.
  • Coordinate communications covering enrolment, orientation, progression, census, assessment, wellbeing, student support, events and important service updates.
  • Translate complex information into clear and inclusive content tailored to different student cohorts and stages of the student journey.
  • Maintain the student communications calendar, manage content schedules and help resolve message overlaps and high-volume communication periods.
  • Develop communication plans for significant student activities, initiatives and events, and support regular publications and campaigns.
  • Apply content governance, approval and quality assurance processes, and use engagement data and feedback to identify improvements.
Skills & Experience Must Have
  • A post-secondary qualification in communications, media, journalism, marketing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, editing and proofreading effective written communications for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to translate complex information into concise, engaging and student-friendly content.
  • Strong stakeholder, organisational and project coordination skills, with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility, plain English and inclusive communication principles.
Nice to Have
  • Experience working in higher education, vocational education or another regulated service environment.
  • Experience managing content in a Student Hub, student portal, intranet or content management system, including Sitecore or a similar platform.
  • Experience using customer relationship management, email marketing or student communication platforms, and developing communications for international and culturally diverse audiences.
