Job summary

Jack Engineering is recruiting a Structural Steel Site Installer to join its Hastings team. The role involves reading marking plans, setting out, and installing steel components on site using cranes and access equipment.

You will work with a skilled team, develop on-site expertise, and contribute to quality, safety and project timelines in Victoria's construction sector.

Qualifications

• Solid welding experience – arc or stick
• Site set-out experience preferred
• MR licence; HR licence a bonus
• White Card / Construction Card
• EWP and Scissor Lift tickets
• Dogging and Rigging tickets
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving
• Ability to read drawings, marking plans and engineering specs
• Great communication and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret marking plans and set-out directives to meet specs
• Carry out daily steel installations using cranes, scissor lifts, crane trucks and other site machinery
• Build strong relationships with builders, clients and suppliers through on-site communication
• Ensure all work meets quality, safety and specification standards
• Follow OH&S and environmental policies and procedures

Our core business is in fabrication and erection of structural steel, and we are currently have a position available for a Structural Steel Site Installer to join our dedicated Site Operations team based out of Hastings.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Read & interpret marking plans & set-out directives to ensure all work meets engineering specs
• Carry out daily steel installations using cranes, scissor lifts, crane trucks & other site machinery
• Build strong relationships with builders, clients & suppliers through positive on-site communication
• Ensure all work is completed to quality, safety & specification standards
• Follow all OH&S, and environmental policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Solid welding experience – arc or stick as a minimum
• Previous site set-out experience, highly regarded but not essential
• A Medium Rigid (MR) licence – HR licence is a bonus (MR is a minimum standard for this role)
• A current White Card / Construction Card
• EWP and Scissor Lift tickets
• Dogging and Rigging tickets
• Strong mechanical aptitude with good problem-solving and maths skills
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, marking plans and engineering specs
• Great communication skills and a strong eye for detail
