Job summary

Searson Buck Group seeks a qualified Structural Engineer in Tasmania to translate client briefs into robust civil/structural drawings. The role involves collaboration with architects, designers and engineers, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and project regulations.

Responsibilities include producing both rough sketches and detailed drawings, conducting on-site inspections, and signing Form 35 & Form 55 where required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil/Structural required.
• Tasmanian registration (CBOS) or near completion preferred.
• Engineers Australia registration or near completion preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Meeting with clients and other construction professionals to understand briefs.
• Working within regulations and contract provisions.
• Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings.
• Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work to be documented.
• Communicating with architects, building designers, builders and engineers, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
• Preparing, reviewing designs alongside the engineering team.
• Ensuring final designs are compliant with building regulations and Australian Standards.
• Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.
• Design structural solutions and requirements from customer specifications, producing two- and three-dimensional drawings.
• Evaluate feasibility and site considerations for designs, raising challenges.
• Sign Form 35 & Form 55 for Structural/ Civil designs.
• Conduct on-site inspections and supporting customers.

Skills & Experience Requirements

Essential:

• Structural Engineer with 5 years experience (do not want someone fresh out of school)
• Registered in Tasmania (CBOS) - or close to getting it
• Registered with Engineers Australia - or close to getting it
• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil/Structural
• Devonport preferred or Launceston - but anywhere in the state will be reviewed
• Proficient with AutoCAD
• Drivers license/ own vehicle until work vehicle can be arranged - Be able to service whole state for Site Inspections if required and depending on location

Desirable:

• Civil qualification/ experience
• Registered with CBOS
• Registered with Engineers Australia
• CPEng/ Chartered Professional Engineer
• Proficient with BricsCAD
• Proficient with Space Gass

Renumeration

$90,000 -120,000 + Superannuation (+ Vehicle & Fuel Card + Mobile phone)
