McMillan Shakespeare is seeking a Workforce Planning Specialist in Australia, Brisbane. The role focuses on translating forecast demand into workforce plans, roster strategies and staffing models to support service delivery and efficiency across operations.

You will own scheduling, leave governance and capacity planning while ensuring compliance and operational effectiveness. You will partner with leaders to provide insights on risks, utilisation and productivity opportunities, and contribute to

Qualifications

• Experience in workforce planning in a complex multi-site environment.
• Understanding of scheduling methodologies and workforce optimisation practices.
• Knowledge of concepts: shrinkage, adherence, coverage and interval staffing.
• Experience balancing supply, demand, service outcomes and labour costs.
• Strong analytical skills to identify risks and practical solutions.
• Experience translating forecasts into workforce plans and staffing requirements.
• Familiarity with performance metrics, workload drivers and operational planning.
• Knowledge of Australian employment legislation and award-based rostering.

Responsibilities

• Develop workforce plans, roster strategies and staffing models aligned to forecast demand.
• Design and maintain master rosters, shift patterns and structures balancing demand, experience and cost.
• Manage availability, leave governance and capacity frameworks to sustain service performance.
• Develop contingency and surge plans ensuring compliance with awards and policies.
• Monitor overtime and rostering system configuration to maintain roster integrity.
• Partner with leaders to provide practical planning advice and insights.
• Identify opportunities to improve utilisation, rostering effectiveness and flexibility.
• Support workforce initiatives to improve planning maturity and service delivery.
