Townsville City Council is seeking a Senior Procurement Business Partner to deliver value by partnering with internal stakeholders, driving strategic procurement outcomes, and leading tendering, category management, and supplier performance. The role shapes procurement strategies to deliver best value for money and efficiency improvements across Council programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar procurement role.
• Strategic procurement, category management and tendering processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship-building and customer service skills.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and recommendations.
• Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to interpret financial data, contracts and commercial documentation.
• Experience working within the public sector and an understanding of government procurement environments.
• Experience across maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) and indirects categories is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement initiatives and develop category strategies.
• Manage supplier and contract performance across Council programs.
• Support complex tender processes and evaluation activities.
• Provide expert procurement advice to internal customers and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Coach and develop stakeholders to strengthen procurement capability.
