Job summary

Brisbane City Council in Brisbane is seeking a procurement professional to lead category management across a diverse spend portfolio, delivering value-for-money outcomes and supporting Council’s strategic objectives.

You will drive procurement planning, strategic sourcing, value chain optimisation, contract management, supplier performance, and CAPEX savings initiatives, while ensuring procurement activities are aligned with business needs and organisational priorities.

Qualifications

• Evidence of Leadership Blueprint capabilities to drive performance and a values-based culture.
• Capability in category strategies and category management including strategic sourcing and contract management.
• Advanced analytical capability including spread sheeting and commercial calculations.
• Understanding value chain analysis and collaboration with suppliers for innovation.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for negotiations and complex issues.
• Experience in negotiating, forming and managing contracts to meet targets.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing category strategies that deliver value-for-money procurement outcomes.
• Partnering with stakeholders to plan and deliver sourcing activities aligned to business needs.
• Managing end-to-end procurement processes, including market analysis, tendering, negotiation, and contract establishment.
• Building strong supplier and stakeholder relationships to drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Monitoring supplier performance, contract compliance, and procurement reporting, including CAPEX savings and benefits tracking.
• Identifying cost savings, efficiency improvements, and opportunities to optimise value across spend categories.
• Managing supply and commercial risks while providing expert procurement advice and support across the organisation.
