Job summary

InterContinental Adelaide is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager – MICE to join our Sales team on a 12-month parental leave contract, with a preferred start date mid‑November 2026.

You will proactively source and convert new MICE business, develop relationships with PCOs, associations, meeting planners and key clients, and drive strategies to grow revenue, room nights and profitability.

Qualifications

• Degree, diploma or equivalent in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or related field.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a sales role within a multi-unit or similar hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of sales principles, techniques and client management.
• Experience with international and regional clients; multi-hotel brands/destinations ideal.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market trends.
• Excellent organisation, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Confident representing the hotel at industry events and autonomous when required.
• MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Opera and Delphi experience will be highly regarded.
• A team-first approach and ability to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Proactively source and convert new MICE business through cold outreach, networking, tradeshows and events.
• Develop and maintain relationships with PCOs, venue finders, associations, planners and key clients.
• Develop and implement sales strategies that grow MICE revenue, room nights and hotel revenue.
• Identify new markets, opportunities and partnerships for a strong sales pipeline.
• Manage the sales process from lead generation to conversion and handover to C&E or Reservations.
• Collaborate with Revenue to maximise commercial opportunities via pricing and mix strategies.
• Represent InterContinental Adelaide at industry events and familiarisations.
• Monitor market and competitor activity to support sales strategy.
• Track sales activity, conversion, pipeline and performance against targets.
• Support and mentor junior Sales team members to foster high performance.
