Job summary

Peritus Recruitment is supporting a global leader in high-end scientific instrumentation to recruit a Business Development Manager for Australia and New Zealand. You will drive growth across the materials sciences microscopy portfolio, selling capital equipment to universities, government labs, and industry.

You will manage the full sales cycle from opportunity scouting and quotations to tendering, contract negotiations and post‑sales support, with frequent travel across Australia and New

Qualifications

• Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Metallurgy, Physics or related field.
• Demonstrated success in business development or technical sales of scientific/capital equipment.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing complex sales opportunities.
• Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
• Current Australian Driver Licence and ability to travel Australia & NZ.

Responsibilities

• Achieve annual sales, revenue and gross profit targets across industrial, academic and research markets.
• Develop and execute territory and account plans for sustainable growth.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities in research and commercial markets.
• Build relationships with decision-makers, scientists, engineers and R&D leaders.
• Manage complex capital equipment sales including quotations, tenders and negotiations.
• Maintain a robust sales pipeline with accurate forecasting and CRM updates.
• Deliver product demonstrations and technical guidance throughout the sales cycle.
• Support customer evaluations, installations and user training with Product Management teams.
• Represent the business at conferences and industry events.
