Job summary

Strathfield Council in Sydney’s Inner West is seeking an experienced Manager, Library & Community Services to provide leadership across library, community development, and cultural services. Reports to the Director, Corporate & Community, and leads a multidisciplinary team to deliver a diverse portfolio for a growing community.

This temporary, full-time role (up to 12 months) is 35 hours per week with an attractive remuneration package negotiated, including a vehicle allowance and an additional

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant areas and proven leadership in library and community services.
• Extensive experience in management of library and community services.
• Strong knowledge of local government policies and governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across Library & Community Services aligned with Council priorities.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team to deliver services.
• Oversee library services, community development, and cultural programs.
• Develop strategic and operational plans, policies and procedures.
• Manage departmental budgets and resources with a focus on efficiency.
• Drive service improvements and embrace innovation to improve customer experience.
• Build relationships with senior management, agencies and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, policies and health and safety standards.
