Job summary

Nillumbik Shire Council seeks a Coordinator Community Safety and Resilience - MEMO to provide strategic leadership on community safety, emergency management, resilience and regulatory services. You will guide preparedness, response and recovery efforts while leading safety, animal management, local laws and related functions.

The role reports to the Manager Community Safety and includes implementing council strategies, building partnerships and ensuring regulatory compliance within a dynamic

Qualifications

• Strategic leadership across multiple service areas and the ability to implement and review strategies, policies and frameworks.
• Extensive knowledge of legislation, regulatory frameworks and statutory obligations relevant to Community Safety, Emergency Management and Local Government.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and building high-performance cultures.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Community Safety and Resilience services across the municipality.
• Lead development and implementation of service strategies, plans and initiatives supporting community safety, emergency preparedness and compliance outcomes.
• Drive council-wide initiatives to strengthen resilience, emergency preparedness and community recovery capability.
• Oversee continuous improvement, innovation and service transformation across multiple service areas.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, emergency services and community organisations.
• Manage significant operational, financial, reputational and legislative risks associated with Community Safety and Resilience services.
• Ensure Council maintains appropriate emergency management capability, readiness, relief and recovery arrangements.
• Undertake the statutory duties and responsibilities of MEMO.
