Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking an experienced HR Partnering professional to provide strategic HR expertise and advice across a fast-paced portfolio. You will collaborate with HR Centres of Expertise to deliver an integrated service aligned with the University’s strategy and policy framework.

Qualifications

• Extensive HR partnering experience in a large, complex organisation, ideally within tertiary education.
• Ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice grounded in policy, industrial instruments and employment frameworks.
• Experience interpreting enterprise agreements, awards, legislation and organisational policies.
• Capable of handling a high-case-load environment with urgency, risk assessment and escalation as needed.
• Strong record-keeping and contemporaneous documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leaders to translate workforce priorities into pragmatic, evidence-based HR advice.
• Provide clear advice on complex people matters, translating policy and HR frameworks into practical options.
• Manage a high-volume portfolio of HR matters, applying sound judgement to urgency and risk.
• Maintain high-quality case records and documentation of decisions and stakeholder interactions.
• Collaborate with HR Centres of Expertise to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.
• Advise on workforce planning, organisational design, talent and change.
• Support leaders through workforce and organisational change and use insights to inform decisions.
