Job summary

Brown & Chase Executive Search | Horton International, Sydney, seeks a Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a growing transport and logistics group. You will own month-end close, consolidated reporting for the CEO and Group CFO, and oversee costing across fleet operations.

Responsibilities include budgeting, cash flow forecasting, CAPEX evaluation, and ensuring compliance with AASB, GST, FBT, and STP.

Qualifications

Qualified CA or CPA with a degree in Accounting or Finance.
8+ years in finance, with asset-intensive transport or logistics exposure.
Proficient in ERP systems; advanced Excel and financial modelling.
Ability to translate operational data into clear financial reporting in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

Manage month-end close and year-end close; prepare consolidated monthly management reports for CEO and Group CFO.
Oversee job and contract costing across fleet operations; ensure margin visibility by service line and client segment.
Maintain 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts aligned to operational and fleet cycles.
Ensure full compliance with AASB standards, GST, FBT, and STP obligations; manage external audit and corporate tax requirements.
Lead annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting; partner with CEO on CAPEX evaluations including fleet acquisition and depot investment.
Identify cost efficiencies across fuel, maintenance, and subcontractor spend; build real-time profitability visibility by route and contract.
