Job summary

Wickham Freight Lines Pty is seeking a Group Accountant with a pathway to Financial Controller to lead month-end close, reconciliations, fixed assets, project and hire-purchase accounting. The role is based at Warwick/Killarney QLD, reporting to the GM Finance, and offers scope to develop toward a Financial Controller position.

You will drive financial control, ensure reporting accuracy, mentor staff, and push for ERP improvements while coordinating statutory and tax reporting across the group.

Qualifications

• CPA/CA/IPA or equivalent completed or substantially completed.
• Proven experience in financial accounting, month-end reporting, and reconciliations.
• Strong multi-entity financial accounting, month-end, reconciliation and statutory reporting experience.
• Strong Excel and ERP capability; Pronto experience highly advantageous.
• Experience in transport, logistics, manufacturing or another asset-intensive environment advantageous.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to manage deadlines and complex financial information.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating Group month-end close and financial control activities.
• Managing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, and intercompany accounts.
• Overseeing fixed assets, capital projects, inventory/WIP, and hire-purchase accounting.
• Preparing and reviewing BAS, Fuel Tax Credits, payroll tax, Work Cover, and year-end workpapers.
• Assisting with budgets, forecasts, cash flow reporting, and Board reporting.
• Developing and supporting Finance team members.
• Driving process improvements and ERP system efficiencies.
