Job summary

People Group in Melbourne is seeking a Commercial Export Pricing Lead to own all export pricing for FCL and LCL, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. You will influence margins and support procurement and sales functions.

The role requires strong negotiation with carriers, experience in CargoWise, and the ability to manage multiple quotes under time pressure within a centralised pricing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a centralised procurement or pricing environment.
• Exposure to process automation or tech-enabled quoting workflows.
• Strong export sea freight experience across both FCL and LCL.
• Proven ability to negotiate with carriers.
• Strong commercial mindset around pricing and margin management.
• High competence with CargoWise quoting.
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple quotes under time pressure.
• Clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in preparing pricing strategies or supporting procurement functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial export pricing for FCL and LCL.
• Apply margin thinking to each quote.
• Train and guide the global resource team (GRC) to support back-office quoting functions and standard tasks.
• Support carrier rate discussions and negotiations, while ensuring all engagement remains centralised under procurement leadership.
• Implement key strategic procurement initiatives that strengthen our overall carrier position.
• Maintain awareness of allocation, service reliability, space conditions, and carrier direction.
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of all export carrier trade lines.
• Keep track of vessel rotations, transit times, ports, service strengths, and weekly schedule changes.
• Support Sales with timely and competitive pricing options and guidance.
• Provide structured pricing logic and recommendations to the export team.
