In this role, you’ll:

Work within the Transport Safety branch to build and steward net-value partnerships across government, local government, industry, education, community and advocacy sectors, strengthening community capability, leadership and collective action to improve road and maritime safety outcomes.

This new role provides strategic stewardship of partnership, forums and grant programs, facilitating diverse organisations around shared challenges and opportunities where no single agency can achieve outcomes alone. Working across Transport Safety, you will leverage these partnerships to connect evidence, lived experience, community insight and implementation opportunities, informing policy, program design and delivery.

You will identify and synthesise emerging issues, partner intelligence and community perspectives, helping ensure decision‑making is informed by both evidence and lived experience. The role also supports partnership and grant investments that strengthen local capability, foster innovation and enable community‑led contributions to safer outcomes.

You will prepare strategic briefings, advice and insights for senior leaders and contribute to ministerial and executive information, helping connect community perspectives, partnership intelligence and organisational priorities.

As a foundational role within the Community Engagement and Partnership function, you will help shape and mature new ways of working across Transport Safety, embedding collaborative, place‑based and partnership‑led approaches that strengthen how Transport Safety works with communities, partners and stakeholders.

You understand the importance of working in partnership with First Nations communities and organisations, and value the role of Country, local knowledge and lived experience in shaping effective outcomes.

Ultimately, the role helps create the conditions for communities, partners and organisations to contribute to safer outcomes together.

The team regularly collaborates in person on Tuesdays at our Macquarie Park Office.

You are a naturally collaborative relationship builder who thrives in complex environments and enjoys connecting people to accelerate implementation and achieve shared outcomes.

You have experience building trusted partnerships, synthesising diverse sources of intelligence and insight, and translating these into practical action.

Comfortable working through influence rather than authority, you can create alignment across Government, Country, community, local government and industry sectors, while navigating competing priorities.

You are motivated by creating conditions for others to succeed and are excited by the opportunity to help build the Community Engagement & Partnership function within Transport Safety and the broader organisation.
