Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Senior Program Officer in Sydney to contribute to a diverse portfolio of transport and urban projects by providing project management, stakeholder engagement and strategic support.

You will coordinate with internal and external partners, monitor progress, prepare reports and use data to inform decisions, with a focus on active transport, urban design and place-based outcomes. This is a permanent full-time role based in Sydney.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating and/or managing projects within a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience in active transport, urban design, placemaking or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills to plan, coordinate and monitor activities and outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare high-quality reports and briefs.
  • Ability to analyse information, solve problems and provide practical recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of transport and urban projects to ensure outcomes are achieved on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
  • Prepare project reports, briefs, correspondence and other documentation to support decision-making and project governance.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, risks and deliverables, and provide regular progress updates.
  • Source, analyse and interpret data to identify emerging issues, trends and opportunities.
  • Coordinate stakeholder consultations, working groups and committees to support collaboration and project outcomes.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to research, planning and strategic initiatives that support active transport, urban design and place-based outcomes.
  • Ensure project records, documentation and reporting information are accurate, accessible and up to date.

In this role, you'll:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and/or managing projects within a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience in active transport, urban design, placemaking or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, coordinate and monitor project activities and outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, briefs and correspondence.
  • Proven ability to analyse information, solve problems and provide practical recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to collaboration, integrity, accountability and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning, economic development, social sciences, design, architecture, placemaking, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
