Job summary

Built is seeking a Senior Design Manager in Australia to provide expert design leadership across tenders, ECI and live projects, guiding critical design decisions before delivery. The role spans the business as a trusted adviser to strengthen outcomes, reduce risk and support project success.

You will work with internal teams and external consultants to improve buildability and design approaches, while contributing to ongoing design management enhancements across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in design management within commercial construction across multiple building typologies
• A background in architecture, engineering, or similar, with strong technical grounding
• A deep understanding of NCC, building codes and other legislative requirements
• A broad, holistic view of projects — beyond a single discipline
• The ability to influence and challenge constructively, even in complex or sensitive situations
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and diplomatic approach

Responsibilities

• Review design documentation and provide technical insight across key project stages
• Identify opportunities to improve design outcomes, buildability and project performance
• Support teams in navigating complex design challenges and driving informed decision making
• Partner with internal teams and external consultants to strengthen design approaches
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design management processes across the business
