Job summary

Intract Australia is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Defence to join our Building & Construction team. You will lead the design management process across Defence building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliant, practical and buildable outcomes.

Based in Adelaide, you will collaborate with consultants, Defence stakeholders and internal leaders to move projects from concept to delivery with clarity and confidence, while supporting tendering and value engineering initiatives.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10+ years’ design management experience on major projects.
• Defence or government project experience highly regarded.
• Experience across D&C, ECI, GMP or construct-only delivery models.
• Ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design management from concept through to construction support and handover.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design consultants and internal project teams.
• Manage design programmes, deliverables and approval requirements.
• Lead design reviews, constructability reviews and value engineering activities.
• Support tendering, methodology development and work-winning activities.
• Build strong relationships with Defence representatives, consultants and stakeholders.
