Job summary

Lendlease is recruiting a Design Manager in Sydney to lead the full design strategy and delivery for major project scopes. You will oversee consultants, guide the project team, and ensure design outcomes meet safety, quality, cost, and buildability standards.

You will drive design management across all project phases, engage with stakeholders, manage budgets, and ensure governance compliance while delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for high-profile projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in design management on large/complex construction projects.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to manage consultants and resolve technical challenges.
• Deep understanding of design processes, regulatory requirements, buildability and quality.
• Major D&C project experience with leadership across multi-discipline design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall design strategy, planning, and execution across all project phases.
• Oversee design team, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
• Develop project briefs, design management plans, and detailed design programs.
• Resolve complex design and technical issues while meeting safety and quality standards.
• Guide consultant selection, performance management, and contract documentation.
• Review outputs for buildability, budget alignment, risks, and value optimization.
• Support authority submissions and high-level stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee design cost planning, budgets, variations, and risk reporting.
• Ensure adherence to design procedures and governance.
• Foster collaboration between design, construction, and procurement for seamless delivery.
