Job summary

The Department of Defence's Defence Finance Group (DFG) in Garden Island, Sydney NSW, seeks an APS6 Finance Advisor. This customer-facing role will guide a small, dynamic team in delivering strategic financial advice to key clients, both uniformed and civilian, and assist with identification of financial risks, cost drivers, and end-of-year forecasting.

• Use business knowledge and financial skills to provide expert advice on Defence and Government financial matters.
• Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and key clients.
• Coordinate financial governance requirements and promote compliance with the financial management frameworks.
• Contribute to budget preparations, evaluation of financial performance and general financial management across a variety of budgets and capabilities.
• Identify financial issues and apply financial management knowledge to deliver objective and systematic analysis and conclusions.
