Job summary

Australian Department of Defence in Canberra is recruiting an APS 6 Finance Advisor / Finance Policy Adviser to support the Integrated Investment Program (IIP) governance and budget processes. The role focuses on monthly financial reporting, preparing briefing materials, and assisting in budget reviews under the CAAB governance framework.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, stakeholder management experience, and a solid grasp of government budgeting and finance.

Responsibilities

• Undertake monthly reporting for senior executive and ministerial updates, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
• Support bi-annual budget reviews of the Approved Acquisition Program, including planning, system readiness, and partner collaboration.
• Consolidate outcomes from budget reviews and develop briefing materials for senior decision makers.
• Assist with Secretariat functions: drafting presentations, minute taking and developing outcomes.
• Provide technical and policy support to the Assistant Director and Director as required.
• Assist in financial closure of project processes ensuring policy compliance.
