North Sydney Council is seeking an Access & Inclusion Lead to shape an accessible, inclusive, and connected community. You will lead the Disability Inclusion Action Plan, partner with people with disability and community groups, and drive universal design across services and infrastructure.

You will work with senior leaders and external stakeholders to promote equity, improve engagement, and advance age-friendly initiatives while guiding strategic responses to housing and community safety.

Qualifications

• Expertise in disability inclusion, community development, social planning or a related field, with a sound understanding of accessibility, universal design and contemporary inclusion practices.
• Comfortable working across a broad range of issues, building trusted relationships, facilitating meaningful engagement and influencing positive change in complex environments.
• Collaborative operator who can work effectively with community members, advocacy organisations, government agencies and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, translate community needs into practical solutions, provide strategic advice and deliver projects that achieve measurable outcomes.
• Passionate about creating communities where everyone feels valued, included and able to participate.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and evolution of Council's Disability Inclusion Action Plan, working with disability and community stakeholders to deliver lasting change.
• Provide strategic leadership to embed access, equity and inclusion across services, facilities, programs, infrastructure and decision-making.
• Champion universal design principles, inclusive service delivery and build organisational capability and community awareness.
• Contribute to age-friendly initiatives, support responses to homelessness and identify funding/partnership opportunities.
• Advise senior leaders and external partners to shape policy, advocacy and collaboration for a more inclusive North Sydney.
