Job summary

Ventia is seeking a detail-focused Stores Service Attendant/SEAMS at Derwent Barracks, Tasmania. This role supports Defence personnel with fitting, presentation, and alteration of uniforms, and involves stock handling in a dedicated store team.

Dual role with SEAMS duties including measuring, sewing, and maintaining records. Eligible for Defence clearance; Australian citizenship required. Permanent part-time position with PPE and uniforms provided.

Qualifications

• Stores and over-counter retail experience (desirable).
• Sound computer literacy.
• Previous experience using systems such as ERP (desirable).
• Enthusiasm and commitment to high standards of customer service.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong time management and organisation skills.
• Full Drivers Licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service in-store and over counter.
• Receive, check, and acquit stores under supervision.
• Assist with kit issues and customer entitlements.
• Use Defence systems and computer terminals for transactions and record keeping.
• Co-ordinate stocktakes and inventory management within Store.
• Reconcile end of day reports and EFTPOS settlements.
• Prepare or process stores documentation and maintain warehouse records.
• Comply with workplace health, safety, security and environmental requirements.
• Measuring and fitting Defence clothing items as SEAMS role when required.
• Sewing, attaching insignia, and maintaining records for seams services.

We’re proud to offer an opportunity for a detail‑focused Stores Service Attendant/SEAMS - to join our team at Derwent Barracks, Tasmania Defence Base. This role plays a vital part in ensuring Defence personnel are correctly fitted, presented, and supported with high-quality uniform and alteration services. You must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance and therefore, mustbe an Australian Citizen.

• $28.86 per hour plus superannuation
• Permanent Part-time, stable employment
• Working days/times: Monday, Thursday, Friday 8:00am–4:00pm. Tuesday and Wednesday alternating hours, 1 week 8.00am to 4pm, following week 12.00pm to 8pm.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Stores Service Attendant, you’ll work as part of a dedicated store and customer service team.

• Providing exceptional customer service
• Receive, check, and acquit stores under supervision
• Assist with kit issues for customers
• Interpret customer entitlements for various Defence entitlement tables
• Using Defence systems and computer terminals for transactions and record keeping
• Assist with Stocktakes and inventory management within Store
• Reconciliation of end of day reports and EFTPOS settlementli>
• Prepare or process stores documentation and maintain warehouse records – amend to prepare/process/maintain store documentation and record
• Complying with all workplace health & safety, security, and environmental requirements

As a Seams person

• Measuring and fitting customers for Defence clothing items
• Sewing and attaching rank, badges, insignia, and medals in line with Defence standards
• Maintaining accurate records for seams person services and orders
• Supporting customer service activities including issuing, accepting and inspecting returned items
• Assisting with stock handling, manual handling, housekeeping and general store duties

About You

• Stores and over counter retail experience (desirable)

While this is a dual role more focus on Stores Assistant, only needing basic sewing/hobby sewing being advantageous
