Job summary

Ventia is seeking a detail‑focused Stores Service Attendant/SEAMS at Derwent Barracks, Tasmania Defence Base. You will help with uniform fitting, stock control, and customer service for Defence personnel, while also performing sewing and alterations tasks as a SEAMS role.

The position is permanent part-time, requires an Australian citizen eligible for Defence clearance, and offers PPE, training, and inclusive team support. Join a nationwide services provider supporting Defence operations.

Qualifications

• Stores/retail experience is desirable.
• Good computer literacy and familiarity with office software.
• Experience with ERP systems is desirable.
• Full drivers licence is required.

Responsibilities

We’re proud to offer an opportunity for a detail‑focused Stores Service Attendant/SEAMS - to join our team at Derwent Barracks, Tasmania Defence Base. This role plays a vital part in ensuring Defence personnel are correctly fitted, presented, and supported with high-quality uniform and alteration services. You must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance and therefore, mustbe an Australian Citizen.

What We Offer

• $28.86 per hour plus superannuation
• Permanent Part-time, stable employment
• Working days/times: Monday, Thursday, Friday 8:00am–4:00pm. Tuesday and Wednesday alternating hours, 1 week 8.00am to 4pm, following week 12.00pm to 8.00pm.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Stores Service Attendant , you’ll work as part of a dedicated store and customer service team.

• Providing exceptional customer service
• Receive, check, and acquit stores under supervision
• Assist with kit issues for customers
• Interpret customer entitlements for various Defence entitlement tables
• Using Defence systems and computer terminals for transactions and record keeping
• Assist with Stocktakes and inventory management within Store
• Reconciliation of end of day reports and EFTPOS settlement
• Prepare or process stores documentation and maintain warehouse records – amend to prepare/process/maintain store documentation and record
• Complying with all workplace health & safety, security, and environmental requirements

As a Seams person

• Measuring and fitting customers for Defence clothing items
• Sewing and attaching rank, badges, insignia, and medals in line with Defence standards
• Maintaining accurate records for seams person services and orders
• Supporting customer service activities including issuing, accepting and inspecting returned items
• Assisting with stock handling, manual handling, housekeeping and general store duties

About You:

• Stores and over counter retail experience (desirable)
• Sound computer literacy
• Previous experience using systems such as ERP (desirable)
• Enthusiasm and commitment to high standards of customer service
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong time management and organisation skills
• Full Drivers Licence is required

While this is a dual role more focus on Stores Assistant, only needing basic sewing/hobby sewing being advantageous
