W Melbourne is seeking a Food & Beverage Supervisor to lead a large stewarding team in a fast-paced luxury hotel in Melbourne's CBD. You will oversee cleaning operations, support culinary activities, and ensure high standards of hygiene and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in stewarding/culinary or 2 years related work.
• Ability to lead a large team under pressure.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Physical ability to move loads and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Demonstrates professionalism, creativity, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support Stewards to streamline cleanup.
• Maintain water temps and chemical levels; document accordingly.
• Assist culinary team with plate-ups and stock transport as needed.
• Operate and maintain dishwashing and related cleaning equipment.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching staff.
• Build positive working relationships; support team goals.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards.

What We Expect Of You

• Australian Working Rights is essential. Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
• At least one year of supervisory experience and/or 2 years of related work experience in the stewarding and/or culinary field.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while leading a big team.
• Strong organisation and communication skills.
• Physical ability to move objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance; reach overhead and below the knees; move over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
• A passion to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Embody a polished professionalism with an audacious approach to creativity; and a playful individual who is passionate in creating memorable experiences.

A Glance At What You Will Do

• Direct and assist Stewards in order to make clean up more efficient.
• Ensure water temperature, and chemical levels are appropriate for cleaning and documented.
• Assist with other departments as reasonably requested, such as with the culinary team for plate-ups, providing kitchen equipment, transporting stock and various other tasks.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactor.
• Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
