Job summary

W Melbourne is seeking a Kitchen & Sandwich Hands supervisor to join our team in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. You will direct stewards, support the culinary staff, and help maintain efficient, high-standard kitchen operations. Australian working rights apply.

Minimum supervisory experience or 2 years in stewarding/culinary is required. Thrive under pressure, stay organized, and communicate clearly to drive excellent guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Australian Working Rights is essential.
• At least one year of supervisory experience and/or 2 years of related work experience in the stewarding and/or culinary field.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while leading a big team.
• Strong organisation and communication skills.
• Physical ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and work on varied surfaces.
• A passion to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Embodies professionalism with creative, playful approach to experiences.

Responsibilities

• Direct and assist Stewards to make cleanup more efficient.
• Ensure water temperature and chemical levels are appropriate and documented.
• Assist with other departments as needed, e.g., culinary team for plate-ups and stock transport.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools (dishwasher, hand stations, scrubbing areas, trash compactor).
• Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and coaching employees.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships to reach goals.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards.

At least one year of supervisory experience and/or 2 years of related work experience in the stewarding and/or culinary field.

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while leading a big team.

Strong organisation and communication skills.

Physical ability to move objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance; reach overhead and below the knees; move over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.

A Glance at What You Will Do

Direct and assist Stewards in order to make clean up more efficient.

Ensure water temperature, and chemical levels are appropriate for cleaning and documented.

Assist with other departments as reasonably requested, such as with the culinary team for plate-ups, providing kitchen equipment, transporting stock and various other tasks.

Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including the dish washing machine, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactor.

Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.

Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
