Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Sterilising Technician in Bega to ensure instruments and equipment are properly cleaned and sterilised to the highest standards. You will help protect patients and staff by maintaining a safe environment and will work with a team to support CSSD operations.

Role involves decontamination, inspection, packaging, and distribution of reusable medical devices in line with AS 5369:2023 and NSW Health policies.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (TAFE or equivalent).
• Competencies in sterilising and endoscopy services.
• Experience in CSSD or procedure-driven environments.
• Ability to inspect and assemble surgical instrument sets.
• Operate reprocessing equipment and perform quality checks.
• Maintain accurate traceability records.
• Understand WHS requirements for CSSD and safe work practices.
• Excellent communication with CSSD colleagues and clinical customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation and distribution of reusable medical devices.
• Work independently and supervise less experienced staff.
• Follow AS 5369:2023 and NSW Health policies and local CSSD procedures.
• Ensure patient safety, infection prevention and high-quality service delivery.
